The story takes place in the city of Fuyuki, surrounded by sea and mountains. A certain ritual is held there to manifest the Holy Grail, which is said to grant the wishes of its possessor. Seven magicians, chosen by the Grail, are given seven heroic spirits known as Servants. The Servants include the Knight "Saber," the Lancer "Lancer," the Archer "Archer," the Rider "Rider," the Mage "Caster," the Assassin "Assassin," and the Berserker "Berserker." Each Master contracts with one Servant, and the seven pairs engage in a battle royale to eliminate each other until only one pair remains. This is known as the "Holy Grail War." In Spring 2015, the final battle begins.
