Houtarou Oreki, a first-year high school student who lives by the motto "energy conservation," unexpectedly joins the near-defunct "Classics Club." There, he meets the curious heroine Eru Chitanda, his middle school friend Mayaka Ibara, and Satoshi Fukube. Together, the four of them solve various mysteries at Kamiyama High School in this youthful school mystery.
